Zach. Is it Zack or Zach?
Zack
Alright. I'll be sure to annoy you by using an "h" forever! Hahaa no. So-I know you've been up and about these days. Let the Dreyfrest audience on a smidgen of what you've been up to?
I’ve been living back in Great Falls and have done a few shows in here in town as well as Havre shows coming. Living here to save up some money to move off to a bigger market for comedy. Which isn’t hard when compared to Great Falls.
But on the plus side, you've got a lock on the comedy market up there! What do you think it takes to be a comedian nowadays?
Honestly that is an ever-evolving answer. But the best three lessons to know going in is 1. It comes down to you and you alone. You have to put in the work and hold yourself accountable. 2. Comedy can be built on false promises and false praise. Know that and learn from it. And 3. Keep that ego in check. It’s easy to let it go out of control but it is important to stay humble and not get too big of a head.
Man. That's as honest and truthful an answer as any. I'm gonna write those down. So, guided by such a divine insight, I'm sure you can answer these heavy hitting questions. Better condiment. Sriracha or salsa?
Oh, dude, salsa all the way. Get some medium heat chunky salsa and damn you have improved any meal.
Any meal! I ‘ma put this to the test with oatmeal! Man, It's still a tie with this question. Hopefully someone will give the winning vote. Moving on. Back to you. How long have you been performing?
It will be five years this coming November. And I dare you to try it with oatmeal!
I will. I'll do it. I'll even film it. We got ourselves a bet, folks! You read it here first! 5 years. So, what's the fun that you seek out in the world? What does Zack do in his off time?
I honestly watch a butt load of TV and movies. I am supper passionate about both. Also like reading and hiking and that jazz. But I’ll watch Jurassic Park any time and be super happy.
See, I knew there was a reason we'd get along. Oh. Along those lines, I'm going to have you weigh in on a big debate. Die Hard. Christmas Movie? Yay or Nay?
It’s not a Christmas movie. Just because a movie has Christmas in it doesn’t mean it’s a Christmas movie! Step Brothers ends at Christmas. Doesn’t mean it is a Christmas movie. Christmas movies are actually about the holiday and family and all that crap. Die Hard is a movie about killing terrorists and not having shoes.
But he was with his wife for the holiday party and they were talking about spending time together with the kids. The terrorism was a side plot!..NOPE. Derailing! Getting back to Dreyfest. Have you done or been to any other Dreyfest?
I have not! But I’m pumped it’s named after Julia this year. She was a childhood crush!
Nice! A fan of Julia Louis. I'm assuming you watched a bunch of Seinfeld?
Watch a bunch of Seinfeld. It’s my Jurassic Park of TV.
A strong allegory. But worthy, nonetheless. So. Ok. Final question. What can the show-goers expect to see from you on Aug 11th?
More than likely stories of my life in GF from the past few weeks. I love telling stories and it is usually something I do whether I mean to or not.
Well, I'm sure it will be as charismatic and entertaining as you are sir. Can't wait to hear you then!
Looking forward to it man!
