Sophia Smarandescu is a local comedy terrorist, always leaving a wave of destruction and confused looks wherever she goes. Her comedic style blends real life experiences, chairs, and microwaves. She has appeared in Beast Village Comedy Festival and opened for Tony Clifton. She just recently relocated to Bozeman from Des Moines and is afraid of Montana bears.
Sophia Marmalade. That’s an interesting handle. How did you procure such a nickname?
My dad told me to never identify yourself on social media so I changed it to Sophia Marmalade so the government can’t find me. Nobody has ever called me that!
Well, tis my nature as an investigative reporter to delve deep into these issues. But aside from that, you're a fresh face to comedy here. How has Montana treated you thus far?
Haha! I like it! I didn’t expect that there would be a comedy scene here so I’m pleasantly surprised. The crowds here are a little too nice though.
Too nice? Are you more of a person that wants a heckler or two?
Yeah I like a challenge! They’re really great though out here. I’m a girl, I like boys and audiences to be mean to me!
I won't say I agree with your sentiment, but I do love a challenge. Speaking of which, are you a fan of eating challenges?
I was raised watching the Japanese hot dog one.
Alright Alright. I'm just a fan of food and I like to ask to see if you and others are fellow foodies. Whats your favorite dish to have at any time if money was no object?
I like beef tar tar with French fries, but if money was an object, zatar spice.
What's Zatar spice? I need to know!
It’s roasted thyme.
But that's such an exotic name for it! I would have never guessed that. How original. So, what can audiences expect when you hop on stage?
Haha, they can expect for me to emotionally unload on them! No-they can expect appliance jokes and family friendly humor.
HAHAHA. I'm looking forward to both! Sophia, thanks for your time and we'll see you on Aug 11th!
